ONI Tattoo Care

Brand Identity | Packaging | Web Design

This semester-long branding assignment put my design and project management skills to the test. I wanted to incorporate my time studying in Japan into some of my work when I got back, while also highlighting my passion for tattoos. An oni is a mythological creature in Japanese folklore, known for its protective symbolism. The purpose of these skin care products is to specifically protect tattoos in the healing stage and to extend the lifetime of the tattoo. The brand identity was inspired by minimalist Japanese design and the colors of Japan’s flag.

Logo Design

The ONI logo design features the traditional face shape paired with a type lockup, which I adapted into multiple variations for different packaging and merchandise options. To add a touch of authenticity, some of the logo variations incorporate the kanji symbol for the word "oni."

Packaging Design

Under the ONI brand, I developed a line of products that includes body wash, soothing gel, hydrating lotion, tattoo balm, and a mini balm. As a tattoo enthusiast myself, I have personally used these products and highly recommend them to those looking to protect and preserve their ink. To showcase the products, I arranged their photos using Adobe Substance 3D Stager.

Brochure Design

To showcase the essence of the ONI brand, I dedicated significant time to curate a selection of panels that effectively convey its spirit. These panels feature product photos, Japanese tattoo designs, social media contact information, and a brief brand description. Together, these elements encapsulate the identity of ONI and its values.

Merch Design

To complement the brand, I created a merchandise line consisting of enamel pins, patches, and a hoodie. These products cater to the target audience of individuals who appreciate and have tattoos.

Web Design

I focused on designing the home page and one of the product pages for the ONI website, aiming to provide information about the brand to potential customers and facilitate online sales. The design features a blend of curated photography and graphic icons.
