PROGRESS Magazine

Typography | Layout

This magazine highlights the research projects completed by the talented grad students of Temple University’s College of Engineering. While designing the layout, I was able to apply a variety of design skills I’d learned in school for the first time in an internship setting. The College of Engineering has a set brand guide that I used for all of my projects, while also bringing in fresh ideas to add to the collateral. I also had the chance to use photography in creative ways to break up the articles.

Layout Design

Working closely with the communications team, I was responsible for designing eight spreads for the College of Engineering's annual research magazine. Adhering to a strict brand guide, I faced the exciting challenge of infusing fresh ideas into the magazine layout. It was a rewarding experience to piece together all the copy and images to best showcase the exceptional research work of the graduate students we featured. I enjoyed solving the puzzle of creating an aesthetically pleasing and informative magazine layout.

Printing & Distributing

I felt an immense sense of accomplishment seeing my work in print for the first time with this project. It was especially fulfilling to know that many prospective students would have the opportunity to see the magazine and potentially become interested in Temple's engineering graduate program. As the magazine serves as a promotional tool, I felt proud to have contributed to its creation and to finally hold the finished product in my hands.
